Friday, May 8, 2020, 1:11PM

ESTERO, FL- The Florida Jr Blades, proud members of the USPHL, have re-signed Riley Shepard for the 2020-21 season head coach Rob Weingartner announced today.

Shepard will be entering his second season with the Florida Jr. Blades. The  5’6, 120-pound netminder from Naples, FL, got his first taste of junior hockey last season playing in three games at the Elite level of the USPHL.

“I’m returning to play with the Jr. Blades because Southwest Florida is my home and I’ve always wanted to play here. The Florida Jr Blades program has been the focal part of my hockey career and being able to finish my senior year of high school locally and train and play with some great guys is everything to me," said Shepard. "I’m looking forward to learning from new coaching staff and getting more on-ice action next season.”

Weingartner has been looking forward to developing the local Florida talent developed in the barn at Hertz Arena.

“One of the main goals discussed when I took the position here with the Jr Blades was that we develop from within our organization and Riley is a perfect example of that," said Weingartner. "We want to see a steady trend of the U16 players moving up to the Elite team and the Elite players striving to become Premier players.”
