Jr. Blades Vlacich Scores Twice, Sanzottera Near Perfect During Win Over Tampa Bay

ESTERO, FL- After dropping Saturday nights battle against the Tampa Bay Juniors, the Florida Jr. Blades returned to home ice in spectacular fashion with a 4-1 win at Hertz Arena Sunday afternoon.  

"I'm really proud of the guys for the rebound win on Sunday. We played a full 60-minute game and reached the goals we set beforehand for that game,” said head coach Todd Pococke. “It was fun to watch the heart and work ethic the boys showed to get the job done.” 

Just five minutes after the opening puck drop, Jr. Blades newcomer Max McAllister fed a pass to Holden Hertog who sent a shot passed Tampa Bay netminder Daniel Kortenhaus for the 1-0 lead. 

At the 1:53 mark into the second period, Gino Vlacich found his first goal in a Jr. Blades uniform that doubled the lead. Within seven minutes, Juniors Tyler Schaeffer scored to cut the lead on Jr. Blades netminder Christian Sanzottera. Five minutes later, assistant captain Tristan Roost and Josh Grund sent the puck Vlacich who notched his second goal of the afternoon closing out the period 3-1. 

Exiting the second intermission, Quinn Shepard and captain Sam Storlie held Alex Brown secure his fourth goal of the season that secured the 4-1 win.  

Jr. Blades netminder Christian Sanzottera earns the win stopping 47 of the 48 shots faced, while Juniors Daniel Kortenhaus takes the loss allowing four goals on 41 shots.
