Lietava Shines In Net, Brezina's Breakaway Sends Florida To 2-1 Win Over Tampa Bay

ESTERO, FL – Patrik Lietava stopped 59 of out 60 shots faced to help lift the Florida Jr. Blades to a 2-1 win over the Tampa Bay Juniors Friday night at the newly minted Hertz Arena.

"We played a bit inconsistent, but the boys found away to finish strong," said head coach Todd Pococke. "This was a big win for us and I'm proud of the way they fought to earn it."

Each team traded scoring opportunities in the first, where both Jr. Blades netminder Lietava and Tyler Roy saw an onslaught of shots.

Exiting the first intermission, newcomer Sabastien Falsetto broke the scoreless tie to give Florida the first lead of the game after help from Holden Hertog and Brody Ormiston.

Within three minutes of the third period faceoff, Tampa’s Zachary Puterbaugh earned a power play tally to tie the battle 1-1 after breaking through Lietava’s seemingly unbreakable crease. With just 26 seconds remaining in regulation, Tomas Brezina scored on a breakaway to give the Jr. Blades the 2-1 win.

Patrik Lietava earned the win stopping 59 of the 60 shots faced, while Tyler Roy takes the loss allowing two goals on 27 shots.
