Florida Jr. Blades Win Home Opener 2-0 Against Tampa Bay

ESTERO, FL- Patrik Lietava stopped all shots faced as the Florida Jr. Blades won 2-0 against the Tampa Bay Juniors Friday night at Germain Arena. The Friday night home-opener kicked off the start to the 2018-19 Premier season in front of a full house filled with friends, family and fans.

“I was very pleased overall with our first weekend. I thought our compete level was high throughout and our execution was good,” said Pococke. “There's still a lot to work on, but we're in a good spot right now.”

Both teams traded scoring opportunities during the first twenty minutes of the battle, until Tristan Roost scored against Juniors goaltender Tyler Roy 5:55 into the second period. The power play goal was Roost's first of the season, and 27th career point.

Alex Brown scored with an explosive shot from the left with 5:37 remaining in the second period that widen the Jr. Blades lead. Brown’s goal was his second point of the night, after netting an assist on the opening goal from Roost.

Josh Grund, Sam Storlie and Kaya Batur each recorded one assist.

Jr. Blades netminder Lietava earned the shutout win stopping all faced, while Juniors Roy took the loss.
