Jr. Blades Alumni Update: Eric Sugrue

Friday, July 14, 2017, 2:57PM

We are back putting the spotlight on Jr. Blades alumni who not only have advanced to play higher levels of hockey but advanced their education as well.

This week we are looking at what goaltender Eric Sugrue has been up to since winning Goaltender Of The Year honors during his 2013-14 season.

Sugrue first signed with the Jr. Blades in 2011 where he immediately demonstrated strong leadership from the start between the pipes. In his third season with the Jr. Blades he posted a league leading .935 save-percentage before heading into Nationals.

"I am very proud to say I was able to coach Eric and be part of his hockey career. Not only is he a tremendous goaltender, but he is great young man. He is the epitome of what we look for in a player," said head coach Todd Pococke during an interview. "Eric has truly earned his great accomplishments through his hard work and determination, but also as a leader and phenomenal teammate. I will be using Eric as an example for the rest of my coaching career."
