Jr. Blades Alumni Update: Marcus Ortiz

Monday, June 26, 2017, 3:41PM

Last week we introduced our newest feature where we shine the light on former Jr. Blades players who have gone on to play higher levels of hockey.

Our first edition looked at what Matty Cuce has been up to, this week we're putting the spotlight on forward Marcus Ortiz!

Ortiz joined the Jr. Blades early in the 2011-12 season where he collected 46 points including 21 goals and 25 assists in just 26 games played.

After Ortiz's departure from the Jr. Blades he has gone on to sign with Fredonia State University where he ended his four-year collegiate career this May. The winger graduated with a degree in Sports Management.

At the completion of his 2016-17 collegiate career, Ortiz signed with the Rapid City Rush in the ECHL after putting up 20 points including 11 goals and nine assists in his senior year.

The 24-year-old scored his first professional goal with the Rush during the organizations 5-2 victory over the Alaska Aces on March 25, 2017.
