Recap: Jr. Blades Tryout Camp

Sunday, June 25, 2017, 1:30PM

Estero, FL- The Florida Jr. Blades wrapped up the 2017-18 season tryouts Sunday afternoon after a 3-day camp at Germain Arena.

The format for the camp allowed potential prospects to showcase their strengths after being shown a glimpse into what a typical week for a Jr. Blade player is like that included scrimmages, practices and strength and conditioning in Athletic Republic, the official training center of the organization.

As the inaugural Premier season nears, the tryout camp gives the coaching staff an opportunity to look at a prospects full potential, beyond just the numbers.

“For us, it's important for players to attend our tryout camps for a few reasons. One big reason is so they can get to know us and get a better understanding of how we operate,” said head coach Todd Pococke. “It's one thing to exchange emails and phone calls, but seeing everything first hand and getting to know each other in person goes a long way. It also makes it much easier to not only judge talent, but most importantly, judge the character of our prospects.”

Player signings resulting from the camp will be announced over the next coming days and weeks.
