Monday, April 3, 2017, 7:37PM

Estero, FL - The Florida Jr. Blades and the United States Premier Hockey League are pleased to announce that Tyler O'Mara has been named the USP3 Player of the Year for the 2016-17 season.

“Having the honor to be named player of the year is very humbling,” said O’Mara. “I could not have won this award without the support and help from my teammates, coaches and Jr. Blades staff.”

The Syracuse native also collected the honor of being named USP3 Forward of the Year for the 2016-17 season after putting up a total of 85 points that included 33 goals and 52 assists.

"It is well deserved. He is very dangerous offensively but is also responsible on the defensive side of the puck,” said head coach Todd Pococke. “Omar has done a great job for us the last couple seasons and we're very proud of him. "

O’Mara’s competition for the award included Charlotte Rush Cameron Mazikowski and fellow teammate goaltender Cayden Bailey.

“Tyler has done an outstanding job these past two seasons and we are very proud of him,” said assistant coach Tyler Carlston. “He brings enthusiasm and intensity to the rink every day and it has shown in his production. "Player of the Year" was well earned on his behalf!”
