NICK WESCOTT
- Assistant Coach
Nick Westcott played four years for the Castleton State College Spartans men’s ice hockey team playing out of the NCAA’s ECAC east division. His freshman year he helped the team to a record best 17 wins and a top eight national ranking. He was selected by his teammates and coaches as captain for his senior year. He was awarded his team’s academic excellence award and the strength and conditioning award for the 2009-2010 season.
Nick received his bachelor of arts in exercise science from Castleton State College, where his exemplary marks earned him a spot on the Presidents list of distinguished students, as well as the Exercise Science departments’ award for academic excellence. He is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a certified strength and conditioning specialist.
Nick interned as a strength and conditioning coach for Castleton State College’s Men’s Ice Hockey team for both the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 seasons. He also gained experience as a teaching assistant for his colleges advanced strength and conditioning class.
He also has experience training hockey players from the NHL to grassroots levels. While completing his degree he was involved as a research assistant and co-author on a human performance research study entitled “Gene expression in human mononuclear cells following resistance exercise”. This study was published in the European Journal of Exercise Physiology, and he was required to present the study’s findings at the American College of Sports Medicine’s national conference in 2009.
